Excellent performance of PBO fiber
PBO fiber is unique among organic high-performance fibers for its excellent mechanical properties and heat resistance. Although its diameter is only 1 mm, it can easily lift a weight of 450 kg, and its tensile strength and modulus are twice that of para-aramid. Not only that, the heat resistance of PBO fiber is also far superior to that of para-aramid, and it can withstand temperature differences of up to 100°C. Its limiting oxygen index (LOI) is as high as 68%, and its density is moderate, 1.54-1.56g/cm³, making it a leader among non-flammable fibers. Since the industrial production of PBO fiber by Toyo Spinning Co., Ltd. of Japan under the trademark "Zylon" in 1998 at the end of the last century, it has attracted much attention for its excellent performance and is known as the "super fiber of the 21st century."
